Grace and Remus met in 2024 while working side‑by‑side in a busy restaurant kitchen. From day one, they moved in perfect rhythm — colleagues who understood each other without speaking, unaware that something deeper was quietly forming.

When Remus announced he was leaving, Grace felt an unexpected feeling of sadness at the thought of losing him. She tried to brush it off until the company Christmas party, where — helped by a little prosecco — she made a move she didn’t even remember the next morning.

Still, she knew she had to be honest. She messaged him, they met up, and what should have been a quick chat turned into hours of walking, talking, and realising their connection was far more than friendship.

As their relationship grew, they discovered they shared the same dream: to run a pub together — a warm, character‑filled gastropub rooted in great food and community. Their search led them to The George & Dragon in Wrotham. They applied, waited… and were unsuccessful.

Instead of giving up, they travelled to Romania to visit the Christmas markets. Remus showed Grace the places that shaped him, and at a beautiful restaurant where he’d once been Head Chef, he proposed over a perfect tiramisu — now a permanent feature on their dessert menu.

Back home, they reapplied for the pub and impulsively booked a holiday to the Algarve. The night before they flew, the message arrived:

After their trip, they drove straight to Wrotham — a village they’d only visited twice — signed the paperwork, and moved in. That first night, the electricity didn’t work. Neither did the gas. So they powered through cold evenings and dark rooms, painting and transforming the building into the gem it is today. They didn’t do it alone. Parents, villagers, and the Stonegate team all pitched in, helping bring their vision to life.

Today, the George & Dragon stands not just as a pub, but as the heart of their story — built with love, resilience, and the dream that brought Grace and Remus together.
